markets for Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and

Luxembourg: markets representing 50% of European electricity consumption. 270 companies have

traded 530 TWh of electricity on ES in 2016.

OUR MARKET OPERATIONS TEAM

Main team responsibility is to monitor the different trading platforms; being it a 24/7 business, ensuring

a smooth and un-interrupted running of processes and communications is essential. The Market

Operations department has teams working in Amsterdam, Paris and Leipzig; team spirit, cooperation

and knowledge-sharing are key success factors. Operating in a hectic and ever-changing market, key

performance criteria are reliability, accuracy and efficiency.

 

KEY ACTIVITIES OF THE MARKET OPERATOR

_ Match supply and demand with the help of automated auction (trading) systems, as well as take

care of timely and reliable reporting.

_ Pro-actively approach and solve operational problems as experienced by (potential) participants,

and on request provide information in full compliance with rules and guidelines concerning

confidential data.

_ Process and analyse market information produced or received by the exchange market, including

the management of the ES index, in support of internal and external publications.

_ Take care of and be responsible for the daily operational trading processes of external parties, as

per agreed Service Level Agreements, in which reliability, speed, and accuracy are crucial.

_ Contribute to the development of new services and products, as well as to the modification of

existing services and products in accordance with market demands and wishes, or those of the

company.

_ Execute validation tests of new systems and system upgrades.

_ Support internal and external projects, for instance by participating in testing phases or by training

fellow operators.

_ Prepare and assist in the implementation phase of new markets, products and/or systems.

_ Be willing and able to work 24/7, i.e. in day, evening and night shifts throughout the whole year (so

also on holidays and weekends).

 

EDUCATION & SKILLS

_ You have an HBO or equivalent degree and some 2 years working experience in a comparable job.

_ You have affinity with the energy market, preferably with electricity trading, other commodities

and/or stocks.

_ You have strong analytical skills, numerical insight and are accurate and quick-minded.

_ You are a strong communicator.

_ You are comfortable and effective working in new areas that require experimentation and rapid

problem-solving.

_ You are able to work following strict procedures and fixed work instructions, whilst at the same time

pro-actively looking to propose changes or improvements for (new) processes.

_ Being a team-player, at the same time you are able to work independently and are flexible.

_ You like to keep learning and are inquisitive by nature.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS

_ Microsoft Office has no secrets for you: you have thorough experience with Excel (incl. Visual

basic), Word and PowerPoint.

_ You like to work with automated systems and have a good knowledge of administrative processes.

 

LANGUAGES

_ Fluent professional Dutch and English both verbally and written are required.

_ Knowledge of German and/or French is considered a plus.
